I have been delighted to participate in the annual Mayo Pink Ribbon Cycle since its inception in 2010 and am looking forward to taking part in this year’s event on April 30th. Cycling is an activity I have long enjoyed for many reasons, not least because of the opportunity it affords to take in the countryside and to shake off the cobwebs!
But this is about more than cycling.
We are all aware of the prevalence of breast cancer in modern Ireland. Indeed, I would go so far as to guess that almost every Irish person either knows or knows of a woman whose life has been impacted in this way. Many survive. Some do not.
The work done by Breast Cancer Research in Galway is world class and all funds raised from the Mayo Pink Ribbon Cycle will go towards their ongoing effort to promote the earlier diagnosis of breast cancer and to help find more effective treatments.
Mayo Pink Ribbon have a route to suit every level of cyclist, so why not get on your bike, enjoy the outdoors and do your bit to help beat breast cancer.
With my very best wishes,
Enda Kenny T.D.
